Monee Elementary Teacher and Husband Featured in People Magazine for Adoption Story
Kelly Peterson, a Special Education Teacher at Monee Elementary, was recently featured in People Magazine! This is a tremendous honor, offering recognition and positive exposure to highlight Kelly’s inspiring journey. The article shares the story of Kelly and her husband, Larry, both of whom live with Spina Bifida, and their path to adopting a little girl with the same condition, demonstrating strength and compassion. Their doctor fully supported this decision, believing that who better to teach a child with Spina Bifida about growing up independently and managing their own care than two individuals who understand it intimately. Kelly and Larry hope their story will inspire others with disabilities to consider adoption as a possibility.
