CIA Introduction

Monee Elementary CIA:

Character In Action

The Monee Elementary C.I.A. Club, or Character Club, gives ALL students and families an opportunity to get involved! Each month we will announce the character trait focus and send home a list of activities for your family to choose from. This school year, our goal is to provide more opportunities for service-based projects--to put Character in ACTION. As a school, we hope to provide opportunities to directly give back to the community, including the school community, our local community and beyond.

Students are encouraged to complete activities with their families; however, it is a choice to take part in the Character Club. Students will turn in their ‘evidence’ of completed activities to their classroom teachers, who will keep track of students who reach their goals each month. These students will earn a Character Club necklace charm (to be added to their Spirit Necklaces) and receive recognition for their participation. Students that complete at least 4 of the 6 missions will be recognized at the end of year award ceremony.

Benefits of Joining the C.I.A. Club:

  • Students are able to practice being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible at both school AND home.
  • Students are given the opportunity to put positive character into ACTION and feel pride in giving back to their school and community.
  • The Character Club promotes parent-child interactions.
  • Students experience great pride as they are recognized for their participation!

C.I.A. Club Membership Guidelines:

  • Students must complete ONE activity at home then turn in ‘evidence’ of their project to their classroom teacher.
  • Remember to include NAME, GRADE and TEACHER NAME on your work.
  • Many activities require family participation. We encourage parents to work with their children on the activities. Younger students might need more help with reading and writing activities.
  • Students have approximately 1 month to complete activities--see the schedule on the front of this page.

Each month, Monee teachers and staff members will be trying to CATCH students demonstrating the character trait of the month--truly putting positive character in ACTION. If caught, students will receive a special Positive Referral to the Principal for recognition and be automatically added to the C.I.A. Club for the month!
